Stryker soldier killed in Baghdad

A soldier with the 172nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team was killed Tuesday in Baghdad by small-arms fire, the U.S. Army announced today. The soldier was killed at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday Iraq time (2:40 a.m. Tuesday Alaska time).

The soldier’s name was not immediately released, in accordance with Defense Department policy, but family members have been notified. The soldier’s name will be released after a 24-hour period, as called for by the department’s policy.
